Here at Vaping 101, we’re in the business of making vapers’ lives easier, especially when it comes to picking out the perfect vape device. If this is your first time choosing a vape kit, or even if you’re just looking for something new, you probably already know that you’re in for a long search.
With all the different types of vapes out there, it can be really tricky to figure out which device is the right one for you, especially if they share many similarities.
In this blog we’ll be breaking down the similarities and differences between VooPoo’s famous Argus GT2 and Drag 3 vape kits. As a household name in the industry, VooPoo is known for producing some of the most top performing vapes on the market and these two models are no exception. While both vapes are excellent for mouth-to-lung (MTL) and direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping, there are some key differences to take into consideration before popping either (or even both!) of these into your basket.
So if you’re interested in VooPoo’s innovative vapes, read on to learn more about 2 of their excellent vape kits.
Design
At Vaping 101, you'll have the option of investing in the full Voopoo Argus GT 2 kit or just the VooPoo Argus GT 2 box mod.
The Voopoo Argus GT 2 kit may be slightly bigger than your average vape pen or pod kit, but trust us when we say it won’t weigh you down all day. The vape itself measures at 140 mm x 30 mm x 53 mm and weighs 242 grams before the dual 18650 batteries are inserted. The zinc alloy build also ensures a sturdy design that’s much more lightweight than it seems.
The Argus GT 2 also features a shiny silver bezel and rubber edging that’s similar to the original GT vape kit. The grip has the look of wood but is softer to the touch, a great design touch that ultimately helps to create a vape that’s classy yet comfortable.
There is a small sliding door that lets you access the USB type-C charging port. This door is sealed by rubber which helps with the device's shock, dust, and waterproof capabilities.
The Argus GT 2 kit also has a useful full-colour 0.96” TFT screen with firm adjustment buttons to help you easily switch between the different vaping modes available.
A physical locking switch is a great option for those that like peace of mind. This even locks the fire button.
This stylish and comfortable device is available in five colours, including:
- Silver Grey
- Dark Blue
- Graphite
- Carbon Fire
- Lime Green
The Voopoo Drag 3 TPP-X kit is the latest addition to the VooPoo Drag family. The Drag 3 measures at 138 mm x 27 mm x 52 mm, making it roughly around the same size as the Argus GT 2 kit. The boxy design also features a zinc alloy build and a similar leather touch grip, with the device’s name emblazoned across the leather.
As far as the size and weight of both models go, they share many similar design features and are both suitable for those vapers who often find themselves vaping whilst on the move.
This model also features a full colour 0.96″ TFT screen. You can use this to check your:
- Battery life
- Wattage
- Mode
- Puff count
- Puff time
- Coil resistance
- Voltage
When it comes to colours, the Voopoo Drag 3 TPP-X kit is slightly more extensive with its colourways, including options such as:
- Black Umber
- Silver Coffee Brown
- Grey
- Silver Treasure Lime
- Silver Dream Blue
- Eagle Black
- Eagle Grey
- Black
Features
The VooPoo Argus GT 2 box mod, which is included in the Argus GT 2 kit, has a range of great features to help meet the needs of every type of vaper. It's powered by VooPoo’s new innovative GENE.TT 2.0 chip which supports four modes. These include:
- Smart mode
- Turbo mode
- RBA mode
- TC mode
The device provides vapers with variable wattage capabilities which, alongside the 4 highly intelligent modes, helps to personalise the way you vape. Another impressive feature in the GT 2 is its IP68 rating, which means it can withstand dust and water while also being shockproof - great for the more adventurous vapers out there.
On the other hand, one of the Drag 3’s shining features is its 360° Infinite Airflow System, which is designed to provide more precise control over your airflow while maximising vapour production.
Like the Argus GT 2, the Drag 3 model also uses the smart GENE.TT 2.0 chipset and provides users with incredibly fast ignition times and a powerful yet stable output. Users can also enjoy different vaping modes including SMART, RBA, and POWER modes to help further personalise your vaping experience, while the TPP platform means it's compatible with TPP, PnP, and 510 tanks.
Tanks
The Argus GT 2 makes use of VooPoo’s new and improved MAAT tank, which is compatible with their entire TPP coil range. With this tank, users will also be able to benefit from an innovative plug-and-play installation for speedy coil replacements.
The MAAT tank also offers smooth and intuitive airflow control as well as a leak-proof design that minimises the chance of e-liquid condensation and helps to strengthen flavour production.
On the other hand, the VooPoo Drag 3 uses the TPP-X Pod Tank which also offers adjustable airflow capabilities alongside its 360° Infinite Airflow System. Additionally, this tank features a magnetic suction and easy filling design to ensure assembly and e-liquid refilling is as easy as can be.
Coils
The Voopoo Argus GT 2 Kit comes equipped with 2 sub ohm coils: a 0.2-0hm VooPoo TPP DM2 coil and a 0.15ohm VooPoo TPP DM3 coil which are both excellent options for DTL vapers. While the kit only comes with these 2 coils, they’re definitely not limited to these only - the Argus GT 2 is compatible with the entire range of TPP replacement coils so you’ll be able to experiment with different resistance levels and vaping styles.
The Drag 3 also comes with 2 sub ohm tanks, a TPP-DM2 - 0.2ohm coil and TPP-DM3 - 0.15ohm coil which are both perfect for DTL vaping. Alongside this, the Drag 3 is also compatible with the entire PnP coil range making this vape even more flexible in terms of its coil options.
Battery Life
Judging the battery life of a device can be challenging, and a battery’s lifespan will essentially be determined by the wattage you choose to vape on as well as your own vaping habits. You won't receive batteries with either device, so investing in high-quality batteries is essential to their life and performance.
Generally speaking, the Argus GT 2 has an excellent battery life supported by its dual 18650 batteries. A full charge cycle can last as long as two days for an average user vaping on a wattage of 45W - a lifespan that’s quite rare to find in other vapes.
The type-c 3A fast-charge port can increase the speed of your device and charge it by as much as 30%, a perfect choice if you’re in a rush; however we do recommend charging your battery using an external charger for safety purposes.
The Drag 3 also utilises dual 18650 batteries in its mod. Charging the VooPoo Drag 3 takes a bit longer compared to the Argus GT 2 as it uses a 2A USB type-C port. You could expect this to take around 3 hours.
You can also expect a similar battery life based on using your vape at a wattage of 40 to 45, with a puff count of more than 830 with each charging cycle.
The battery indicator on the screen and puff counter in both these vapes will help you get to grips with their lifespan and capabilities over time.
Performance
The Voopoo Argus GT 2 kit offers a greater maximum power output of 200W compared to the 177W that you’ll get from the Voopoo Drag 3 TPP-X Kit, making it a great choice if you’re looking for larger vapour clouds or a stronger throat hit. The Argus GT 2 also provides a great degree of flexibility thanks to the range of modes provided by the GENE.TT 2.0 chipset and updated UI.
The MAAT tank's airflow design helps you enjoy your flavours, and the excellent build quality significantly minimises the risk of e-liquid seepage.
The Drag 3 does also feature different vaping modes, with the SMART mode being an ideal mode for beginners while the RBA mode is great for more experienced vapers looking for a high powered vape.
Both vapes also take advantage of the highly intelligent and intuitive GENE.TT chipset, VooPoo’s most advanced chipset to date, which supports a variety of vaping modes such as SMART mode and TC mode that help to enhance your vaping experience and provide a stable power output,
The Verdict?
VooPoo’s Argus GT 2 and Drag 3 vape kits are both excellent options for DTL vapers, cloud chasers, and more experienced vapers. However, vapers who prefer MTL-style vaping shouldn’t be discouraged as these two devices are highly customisable which means you’ll also be able to use them for MTL vaping with the right mode and coils.
The GENE chip built into the 2 models also provides great power in both options, however you may notice a bit more of a boost in power when using the VooPoo Argus GT 2 due to its higher wattage range. If you’re looking to create the biggest clouds you’ve ever seen, we recommend going for the Argus GT 2 vape kit.
Overall, both novice and experienced vapers can expect great performance, delicious flavours, and solid vaping experiences from either device. The main differences between the two really come down to their wattage range, charging time, and coil compatibility. Whichever vape you decide to choose, we’re sure these two options will meet all your vaping needs and expectations.
