Our commitment to UK vape law, product safety, and genuine supply

At Vaping 101, we take UK vape law seriously. This page explains how we ensure the products we sell meet the UK Gov rules often referred to as “TPD compliant”, which are implemented through the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR) and related requirements.

This page explains what those rules mean, how we meet them, and why buying from a compliant UK retailer matters.

We are committed to:

  • Only selling products that meet TRPR product standards for UK consumers, including limits on nicotine strength, tank capacity and bottle sizes

  • Supplying nicotine-containing products that have been notified and are published on the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency database before they are sold

  • Working with genuine, reputable and authorised suppliers to help protect customers from counterfeit or grey-market products

  • Enforcing a strict 18+ policy for all nicotine inhaling products

What do “TPD” and “TRPR” mean?

TPD refers to the Tobacco Products Directive that set shared standards across Europe. In the UK, those requirements are implemented and enforced primarily through the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR) (as amended).

The aim of these rules is to ensure minimum safety and quality standards, clear consumer information, and stronger protections for children and young people.

UK product requirements we follow

To comply with TRPR requirements for consumer vape products, we ensure that relevant items meet the key limits and standards, including:

  • Maximum nicotine strength: up to 20 mg/ml (2 percent)

  • Maximum tank or pod capacity: up to 2 ml

  • Maximum nicotine e-liquid refill bottle size: up to 10 ml

  • Packaging safety: nicotine-containing products must be child-resistant and tamper-evident

  • Ingredient restrictions: certain ingredients are restricted, including colourings, caffeine and taurine

  • Labelling and warnings: products must carry the required warnings and consumer information

Where we sell nicotine-free accessories or non-nicotine products, we still expect appropriate safety and quality standards and we source responsibly.

MHRA notification and published product checks

In the UK, nicotine-containing vaping products (e-cigarettes and refill containers) must be notified and published before they can be sold, and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is the competent authority for the notification scheme.

We source from suppliers who can provide the documentation and traceability we need.

We carry out checks against the MHRA published product information where applicable, using the MHRA ECIG database

Genuine suppliers and anti-counterfeit sourcing

Customer safety depends on a clean supply chain. We aim to stock genuine, authorised products and work with legitimate and licensed businesses, helping reduce the risk of counterfeit goods entering circulation.

  • We prioritise established UK and EU distribution channels

  • We maintain supplier records and product traceability where applicable

  • If a product raises authenticity or compliance concerns, we investigate and take action

Age restriction and responsible retailing

Vaping products containing nicotine are strictly 18+. Selling nicotine inhaling products to under-18s is prohibited, and we do not knowingly supply these products to minors.

We also reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders where age verification or compliance checks are not satisfied.
