What is a 50ml E-Liquid Shortfill?
A 50ml E-Liquid Shortfill, often simply referred to as a 'Shortfill', is a type of vape juice packaging that is intentionally not filled to capacity. Specifically, a 50ml Shortfill is a 60ml bottle that is filled with 50ml of nicotine-free e-liquid. The remaining 10ml space is left for the addition of a nicotine shot, or 'nic shot'.
This concept was introduced in response to the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), a regulation that restricts the sale of nicotine-containing e-liquids in bottles larger than 10ml. By selling larger bottles of nicotine-free e-liquid, Shortfills allow vapers to continue enjoying their favourite flavours without the need for multiple small bottles.
To use a Shortfill, a vaper would typically add one 10ml nic shot of their preferred strength to the 50ml of e-liquid, creating a total of 60ml of nicotine-containing e-liquid. This can then be thoroughly shaken to ensure the nicotine is evenly distributed throughout the e-liquid. The result is a large quantity of vape juice tailored to the vaper's desired nicotine strength.
Shortfills are a popular choice among vapers for several reasons. They offer more flexibility in terms of nicotine strength, they're more environmentally friendly due to less packaging, and they can be more cost-effective than buying multiple 10ml bottles of e-liquid.
