Have you been tempted by the wonderful world of vaping? The great selection of e-liquids and vape devices might seem a bit confusing at first but you'll soon get the hang of it. To help, we've even recruited our team of experts to create a series of blog posts to clear things up for you!
This post will explore two direct-to-lung (DTL) vape devices from Vaporesso. Vaporesso was launched in 2015 by one of the largest vape companies on the market, Smoore. With a global fanbase, Vaporesso is known for producing high-quality vape kits.
In this post, we'll compare the Vaporesso Target 200 vs Gen 200. These powerful DTL devices are known for providing excellent performance. Keep reading to find out how and why.
Design
Vaporesso is known for the high quality of their builds and the Gen 200 and Target 200 kits are no exception.
The Vaporesso Gen 200 kit boasts a 0.96" TFT screen. The device measures 138.5 mm x 44 mm x 29 mm so it isn't the smallest option on the market, but it's still relatively compact considering it's a dual-battery mod.
The symmetrical design features a fire button on the side. Below the screen are the buttons you'll need to control it.
A magnetic door for your battery is easily popped open. However, the magnets are strong enough to ensure they won't accidentally come loose.
Colour choices for the Vaporesso Gen 200 Kit include:
- Aurora Green
- Silver
- Matte Grey
- Midnight Blue
- Sunset Glow
- Black
The Vaporesso Target 200 kit measures 142.1 mm x 42.8 mm x 33.7 mm, making it slightly larger than the Gen 200.
The sturdy design features the same size colour screen as the Gen 200, with the fire button located on the front.
The battery door differs from the Gen 200 as it's a latch style. This offers a secure hatch for the batteries that are easy to access. While they aren't hugely dissimilar, the Vaporesso Gen 200 mod is slightly smaller. You'll also find a range of different colours to choose from across the two models.
Vaporesso Target 200 Kit colours include:
- Slate Grey
- Sunset Red
- Carbon Black
- Navy Blue
- Forest Green
Features
As you might expect from Vaporesso models, both have great features that can help to improve your vaping experience. Both options also offer a turbo airflow system and use the Axon 2.1 chipset. This provides a range of modes and power variations including variable wattage capabilities and a pulse mode which essentially sends an extra pulse of power to create extra thick vapour and bigger clouds - perfect for performing vape tricks!
Vaporesso have built both devices with a smart mode which when activated detects the coil in use and automatically sets the best power settings for that coil’s resistance. Vaporesso’s upgraded AXON chipset comes with a F(t) mode, Vaporesso's very own clever creation. This mode is similar to the pulse mode, but it is essentially an evolution of this mode to provide even greater flavour by pulsating different at voltages as you vape which picks up all of the different, unique flavour profiles of the e-liquid. The chip calculates all of this itself, so all you have to do is activate the mode and Vaporesso’s genius chip does the work for you!
Bypass mode, voltage mode and DIY are also available. Interestingly, Vaporesso has chosen to not include a TC mode with either device. However, with so many other modes you do not feel like you’re missing anything.
Vaporesso have packed these devices out with features for an almost never-ending range of ways that you can personalise your experience!
Tank
Both the Gen 200 and Target 200 use the iTank, a mighty sub-ohm vape tank. The iTank has a 2ml tank capacity and is designed for use with shortfill e-liquid. Vaporesso have designed this tank with a 510 connection making it compatible with a range of different mods on the market.
The top-fill port is a straightforward mechanism that makes it easy to fill without wasteful spills. Plus, the push and swivel style reveals the fill hole below the mouthpiece and the e-liquid nib can then be inserted into the fill port. This means you don’t even have to remove it from the mod at all!
Coils
Both options use the GTi mesh coils, with the 0.2ohm GTi mesh coil coming pre-fitted and the 0.4ohm GTi mesh coil spare in the box. The 0.2ohm coil is rated for between 60W to 75W and the 0.4ohm coil is rated for between 50W and 60W. The 0.2ohm provides excellent flavour with the Target 200. The Gen 200 provides similar results because of the Axon chip which can be found in both devices.
Battery Life
Both models house dual batteries. The 18650 batteries are not included but a USB type-C charging cable does come with the Vaporesso Gen 200.
It's worth noting that these are two of the lightest dual-battery mods available, which is a credit to Vaporesso. Charging times can run up to 2 hours with these models depending on the battery and cable you use.
The battery life can be monitored on the screen, which is a very handy feature. How long your battery lasts on your Vaporesso Gen 200 mod or Vaporesso Target 200 mod will also be determined by your vaping habits and preferred coil resistance.
Performance
Much like every other aspect of these mods, the performance results between the Vaporesso Gen 200 Kit and Vaporesso Target 200 Kit are very similar. Both mods are rated for a maximum of 220W output power. Adjustments can be made in full-watt increments and both options showed immense power.
The 0.2ohm coil provides a better experience than the 0.4ohm coil on the Gen 200. Both coils also need a little bit of use before they really provide optimal performance.
When it comes to performance, the similar components and capabilities meant that results were similar once again. The main difference we can find is in appearance. So whichever one of these two Vaporesso devices you choose, you're guaranteed a great vaping experience.
The airflow can take a bit of getting used to for those that don't want an airy vape experience. Adjusting this by using the airflow control ring is easy enough to get used to.
Like the Gen 200, the Target 200 auto sets the wattage to 40W for the 0.4ohm coil. Bumping this up to around 55W gives you great flavour and decent cloud production.
The Verdict?
There are so many similarities between these options that it's difficult to separate them. Neither have temperature control, but they both:
- Use GTi coils
- Have a variable voltage
- Use the same chipset
- Use the same batteries
- Have a pulse mode
- Share similar power mode performance
