Choosing the right vape kit for your needs can certainly be fun, but also challenging. Sometimes, the differences between different options can be clear and obvious, while other times they may be more subtle.
Uwell, an innovative vape brand established in 2015, is dedicated to creating devices that cater to their customers' preferences and requirements. The Caliburn G is an excellent mouth-to-lung (MTL) device, whereas the Caliburn G2 pod kit provides both MTL and direct-to-lung (DTL) capabilities.
This post will compare the Uwell Caliburn G2 vs Caliburn G. As you may have gathered by the names, these devices are closely related. The Uwell Caliburn G2 is the updated Caliburn G model.

Design
Made from zinc alloy and weighing around 36 grams, the Uwell Caliburn G pod kit measures 108.3 mm x 22.5 mm x 12.6 mm. Its long, slim design makes it easy to carry and fit in pockets. Plus, it comes in several plain yet stylish colours, including:
- Black
- Green
- Grey
- Blue
- Red
- Brown
The top filling device has a maximum capacity of 2ml, which is standard for these types of vape kits. USB type-C charging offers simplicity and speed, which is always a bonus.
In contrast, the Uwell Caliburn G2 pod kit is slightly larger than the Calburn G model, but not enough to make a big difference, measuring 110.5 mm x 22.5 mm x 13 mm. The body is constructed from PA and aluminium alloy and also weighs 36g.
The similar size and weight mean there is not much difference between the two when it comes to portability and comfort. Much like its older counterpart, the Caliburn G2 comes in a variety of colours, with stylish additions such as:
- Gradient Blue
- Matte Grey
- Pyrrole Scarlet
Like the Caliburn G, the Caliburn G2 is a top-filling device with a 2ml capacity. The real differences come in the functions of the devices.
The progressive airflow adjustment of the Caliburn G2, controlled by a handy adjustable gear wheel, allows for easier adjustments than the Caliburn G's rotating cartridge. The G2 also features an e-liquid check window, improving its design significantly. In addition, it has better battery life and airflow adjustability.
Features
The features of the Caliburn G are a bit more limited compared with the Caliburn G2. This is only to be expected when you consider that the Caliburn G2 is the updated version.
Features of the Caliburn G include a lightweight, slim design for comfortable use and carrying. The device is specifically designed for MTL vaping and comes equipped with a dual airflow system. This device can be activated through both draw and button, and has a 5-click locking system for added safety.
In comparison, the Caliburn G2 pod kit is suitable for MTL and RDTL (restricted direct-to-lung) vaping. The device is compatible with Caliburn G and Caliburn G2 coils, allowing for greater flexibility. The Caliburn G2 also features a vibrating mechanism that provides haptic feedback, giving users greater control over their vaping experience.
In terms of functionality, the Caliburn G2 has a more progressive airflow adjustment system than the Caliburn G, thanks to its easy-to-use airflow adjustment wheel.
The Caliburn G2 also boasts state-of-the-art Pro-FOCS flavour-adjusting technology. This means users will enjoy everything their e-liquid has to offer.
Pods
The Uwell Caliburn G replacement pods come with a 2ml capacity and a 1.0 ohm pre-installed coil. Press-fit coil removal and installation make it easy for you to replace them.
Uwell Caliburn G2 replacement pods offer more flexibility and are compatible with a greater range of coils.
Coils
The Caliburn G uses a 0.8 ohm mesh coil which is ideal for MTL vaping. Although, the upgraded Caliburn G2 offers greater flexibility when it comes to coil options.
The Caliburn G2 pod kit comes with a pre-installed 1.2 ohm mesh coil. However, the device is also compatible with the Caliburn G 0.8-ohm mesh coil and 1.0 ohm mesh coils. This flexibility means the potential for restricted direct-to-lung vaping.

Battery Life
Another difference between the Caliburn G and Caliburn G2 pod kits is their batteries. While they both come with built-in batteries, the Caliburn G has a 690mAh battery capacity and the Caliburn G2 has a 750mAh battery.
They both use USB type-C charging, which is a great option for vape kits as it allows quick and easy charging. The Caliburn G can be fully charged in around 40 to 45 minutes depending on the cable being used. This is pretty standard for vapes of this size.
Caliburn G2 charging can be done in less than 30 minutes. This is surprisingly quick – much faster than previous Caliburn series products – and a great benefit for this device.
When activating the device by inhaling or pushing the button, you will be notified of the battery level by its LED light. The green light lets you know the device still carries between 60% to 100% of its battery life. A blue light shows the device has between 30% and 60% and a red light lets you know you have less than 30%.
The LED light also lets you know when the device has finished charging. It switches from a slow flash to constant green when fully charged.
Performance
The performance of the Caliburn G is pretty consistent. There may be a slight drop-off as the battery power starts to run out, but it's not a huge difference.
The great construction means that leaks are unlikely. This is a huge bonus for those that carry vapes in their pockets or purses while out and about. Plus, dual adjustable airflow options offer the possibility of a tight airflow or slightly looser MTL experience.
The Caliburn G2 uses an adjustable gear wheel for its more progressive airflow adjustment feature. This is a lot easier than previous Caliburn series products and allows you to tailor your vaping experience.
The replaceable coils of the Caliburn G2 also allow a more tailored vaping experience since you'll be able to choose between MTL or RDTL with this model.
The coils you use will affect how much e-liquid you burn through. It will also make a difference to the throat hit, flavour, and cloud production.
The Verdict?
Debating the benefits and main features of a Uwell Caliburn G2 vs Caliburn G is a bit of a moot point. The two devices, though sharing similar appearances, are very different in their functionality and features.
The fully adjustable airflow and replaceable coils of the Caliburn G2 make this a great option for intermediate and more advanced users. It allows vapers to tailor their vaping experience a lot more and also has a bigger built-in battery capacity.
The e-liquid check window of the Uwell Caliburn G2 is another great addition. It makes checking e-liquid levels straightforward and convenient. It also shows that Uwell listens to their customers who asked for this feature! Plus, the vibration interaction lets users understand more about the vape's condition.
On the other hand, you should never write off the Uwell Caliburn G pod kit. It's still an excellent option that offers great performance. If you don't want as many settings to worry about or deal with, this is the option for you. Overall, it's a great device for beginner vapers.
