How to Get More Flavour From Your Vape Juice

There are few things worse than filling your tank or pod with your favourite vape juice only to realise that it doesn't taste as good as it did the day before. There are various reasons why this could be the case.

It could be a problem with your device, your vape juice, or even you! You shouldn't fret all that much, though, as in this post, we'll explain the causes of all of these problems and provide you with some solutions.

So if you stick with our guide, you'll know how to get more flavour from vape juices by the end!

Rethink Your VG:PG Ratio

Vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) are two vital components of any vape juice. PG is the ingredient that is responsible for carrying the flavour in vape juice, while VG is responsible for vapour production.

The ratios of VG and PG in a vape juice will significantly affect how flavourful it will be. Cloud-chasing vapers will be more drawn to vape juice that contain more VG, but flavour chasers will often like more PG.

So, if you are wondering how to get more flavour from vape juice, then you should definitely consider an e-liquid that contains more PG.

Pair The Right Coil With The Right Vape Juice

When you purchase a vape juice, it would be a good idea to make sure that it will be compatible with your coil. Coil resistance is what will affect which type of vape juice you can use in your device. If you use a coil that is not compatible with your vape juice, you could end up with poor flavour notes and cloud production.

If your coil has a resistance of 1 ohm or higher, then you should use an e-juice flavour that has a 50/50 PG VG ratio or more PG than VG. The mouth-to-lung devices that have these resistances usually use smaller bore coils that reduce airflow and improve flavour. They also usually produce cool vapour that is easy on the throat.

With a sub-ohm coil, you need a vape juice with a high VG percentage. The thicker VG takes more power to turn into vapour, making it ideal for these higher powered devices. These coils are better suited for serious vapour production, as they produce a warmer and thicker vapour.

Unfortunately, this means that these coils won't be best for flavour chasing.

Change Your Coil Regularly

If you puff on your vape device and notice a burnt taste, then it's time for you to change your coil. If you use high VG vape juice, then you should change your coil on a weekly basis. If you don't vape all that often, then you might be able to get away with changing it once a month.

Any vape juice you put in your vape will lose flavour if your coil is burnt, as the burnt taste will be rather overpowering.

Burnt coils won't just prevent you from tasting your favourite flavours; they will also make your vape juice feel drier and hotter in your mouth.

If you don't want to change your coil as often, you should look at ceramic wicks. However, if you're all about flavour, then the best wicking material would be Japanese organic cotton, as it helps produce a clean, natural flavour.

Clean Your Vape Tank

If you regularly change vape juice flavours, then you should clean your tank every time you do. This will prevent your vape juices from mixing and will, therefore, provide you with better flavour.

Cleaning your tank is not a difficult process and can often be done by just disassembling your vape and running your tank under some warm water.

Avoid Vaper's Tongue

Vaper's tongue is one of the most annoying things you can experience as a vaper. It happens when you vape the same flavour for too long, and your taste buds get used to it. This causes you to be unable to taste your vape juice, which is a flavour chaser's worst nightmare.

There are, however, a few ways for you to get rid of this affliction. One of the best ways is to smell fresh coffee beans, but you can also suck on a lemon or drink water to alleviate the effects. If these tactics don't work, you can always switch to a different flavour for a while.

Find The Right Settings

Another great way to increase how much flavour you get from your vape juice is to tweak your device settings.

Cloud-chasing enthusiasts turn the wattage right up on their vapes to create bigger clouds. However, if it's the best flavour that you're after, then you should turn your wattage down, as excessively high wattages can burn out your vape juice and reduce the flavour.

If your vape has airflow adjustment, you should close it. This will make the vapour denser and slightly warmer, which will improve flavour. If your vape also has temperature control, you should set the temperature to be warm, but not extremely warm, as this will be the sweet spot to get the best flavour.

Of course, vape juice flavours vary and different types of flavours may taste better at different temperatures. That’s why we recommend experimenting with your flavours at different temperatures so you can fine-tune the vape to your preferences.

Store Your Vape Juice Properly

Your vaping device won't always be the reason that you aren't getting a clean flavour. If you don't store your vape juice properly, it can also affect the flavour.

Vape juice should usually be stored in a dry, cool, dark place and be shaken up before use. This will prevent it from being affected by environmental factors.
