Uwell Caliburn A2 vs G2

Many have crowned Uwell the king of mouth-to-lung pod kits, with their Caliburn series leading the charge in terms of pod systems ahead of many other brands. The Caliburn A2 and the Caliburn G2 pod kits are two of Uwell’s most popular devices, and whilst they may look similar there are in fact some important differences between the two.

We’re going to break down and compare both pod kits by looking at the important aspects of the devices including the design, features, and performance of both to help clue you up and make you a Caliburn expert.

Design

Both devices are compact and pocket-friendly, with very marginal differences in their size. The Uwell Caliburn A2's dimensions are 110 x 21 x 12mm whilst the Caliburn G2's dimensions are 110.5 x 21 x 12mm. The slim, pen-style shape makes either device ideal for carrying around in your pocket and vaping on the go.

The Caliburn A2 and the Caliburn G2 look fairly similar at first glance, but it isn't until you hold both in your hand that you realise that there are some distinct design differences between the two. Whilst they have the same shape and are almost identical in size, the Caliburn A2 has a much smoother feel along the body of the pod kit.

The Caliburn G2, on the other hand, features a bit more texture to the body of the device, and is almost a combination of both the A2 and the Caliburn G. The back and front of the device are smooth like the A2 and borrows the slightly ribbed, textured sides from the Caliburn G. Both devices feel great in the hand, but the Caliburn G2 offers that extra bit of texture and grip when vaping. However, some prefer the complete smoothness of the A2 as it celebrates the simplistic nature of the design.

Features

Despite being small, Uwell have still managed to pack these compact vape kits out with a range of clever and unique features. Airflow adjustment is a feature that many vapers look out for when deciding on a vape kit, whether it be an MTL or DTL kit. Adjustable airflow allows for greater control and customisation over their vaping experience, allowing vapers to really fine-tune it to your liking.

The Uwell Caliburn G2 has an adjustable airflow that can be intuitively controlled by rotating the free spinning wheel on the bottom of the face of the device. The Caliburn A2 however does not come with this feature. This is largely because the Uwell Caliburn A2 is designed to only use a pod with a single coil resistance, whereas the G2 has multiple different coils that are compatible with it.

A feature that was well-received amongst fans of Uwell's pod kits was the addition of the vape juice window on the Caliburn G2. The original Caliburn G did not have this feature, and this upgrade was a seemingly small one in terms of altering the design of the device but large in terms of effect, as it allowed vapers to monitor their vape juice levels at all times. This little feature means that you’ll never be never caught off guard with an empty pod, meaning you can’t enjoy your vape. This feature has since been improved upon by Uwell with the Caliburn A2, as the vape juice window is visible from both the back and front, making it even easier for vapers to monitor their vape juice levels.

Pods

The Uwell Caliburn A2 uses refillable pods with a fixed coil inside, meaning vapers have to worry only about refilling the pods when their vape juice is running low. The Caliburn A2 pods come in one resistance with a built-in meshed-H 0.9 ohm coil inside, requiring vapers to simply swap out the pods once the coil is burnt out inside. As well as this, the Caliburn A2 pods also feature a top-fill mechanism for easy refills.

The Uwell Caliburn G2 pod kit also used refillable pods, however there is one key difference that sets it apart. With the Caliburn G2 pods, vapers can remove and swap out the coils at will. For some vapers this will be a huge pro, others it may be more of a con. Whilst it provides far more flexibility over their experience, some prefer the ease of simply swapping out their pods once the coil is burnt out. That's not to say that swapping the coils out in the Caliburn G2 pods is difficult, as it's certainly not. Uwell have created a simple press-fit mechanism for swapping out the coil, ensuring there are no fiddly bits.

Battery and charging

The Uwell Caliburn A2 kit has a built-in 520mAh battery, whereas the Uwell Caliburn G2 pod system has a slightly more powerful 750mAh battery. This means that on average, the G2 will have a longer-lasting battery life than the A2.

In terms of charging, both devices have a USB type-C charging port for fast and efficient charging. It is important to note that whilst the G2 vape kit comes with a USB-C charging cable, the A2 vape kit does not. If you're opting for th A2, then you will have to purchase a USB-C cable separately.

How do these vape kits perform?

As these are both mouth-to-lung vape kits, they use the same type of e-liquid which makes it easier to draw a comparison between the two. Nic salts and 50/50 e-liquid are great choices, but which exact e-liquid is best for you will come down to personal preference. Both pod systems offer a smooth drag, however the Uwell Caliburn G2 will produce slightly warmer vapour due to the more powerful 750mAh battery which some users may prefer.

The Uwell Caliburn G2 and A2 pod systems both support a draw-activated or button-activated drag, so vapers have the best of both worlds. Uwell's innovative Pro-FOCS technology provides a flavour-boosting experience which elevates the performance of both of these devices helping them to stand out against many other starter kits on the market.

Summary

Uwell have created two truly exceptional vape kits in the Caliburn A2 and Caliburn G2, with both providing a smooth and flavourful vape. Both vape kits are great beginner-friendly options, perfect for those who are both new to vaping whilst still providing enough features for those who prefer a bit more of a tailored experience with features such as the adjustable airflow on the Caliburn G2 kit.
